Following is an interview with Coach Ty Jenkins after his 18 Black Team placed 3rd in the MLK Tournament 2012
Coach Jenkins says:
" Overall I felt we had a very good weekend. We played well at times and looked like the team we are capable of being, and then other times we played like we were scared."
Coach Jenkins says he has a lot of confidence in his team and believes the more they play together and gain chemistry and confidence on the court they will be a great team.
Coach Jenkins explained " The one thing I am most excited about in this team is their fight and competitive spirit like they showed this weekend." He describes his team " We are a very deep team with great players in every position, which is important to have to be a championship team. I want the Texas Assault 18 Black team to be a team that everyone fears, and we have some time to get there."
Ty stresses to his team that he is not concerned about wins or losses right now, but they get better with every match, and every tournament. They need to be playing their best from March - May because those are the most important months for a team looking forward to Nationals. Finishing 3rd in our first 18 Open Tournament is a great accomplishment.
